What is SOC 2 Type 2 Compliance?

SOC 2, developed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), is an audit framework for an organizations control and management of customer data, relevant to security, availability, processing, integrity, confidentiality or privacy. SOC 2 reports help the organization in question, as well as regulators, partners, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders, achieve more confidence in the integrity of security, operations, and management of customer data.

A SOC 2 Type 2 report describes an organizations system and whether the design and operating effectiveness of the systems controls are suitable to meet relevant trust services principles as of a specific date.
