Raising a Toast to Women in Finance: Nina Chmura, CPA Shines in NYC Celebration

On July 30th, we brought together the friends, family, and colleagues of Nina Chmura, Partner at Withum, for signature cocktails, happy tears, and a live podcast recording in NYC.

Honoring the Women Behind the Numbers

Every day, women in finance and accounting crunch numbers, slay data dragons, and achieve incredible things. That’s why the launch of Rho and Fintech is Femme’s “Celebration of Women in Accounting” celebration series is so special.

“Women don’t need a month or day to be recognized for their achievements. We partnered together to give accountants, CFOs, and financial innovators the spotlight they deserve,” Christine Farrier, Head of Partner Marketing at Rho explains.

With great care and intention, the teams behind the all-in-one business banking platform built for startups and the accountants who serve them, and media company Fintech is Femme, led by the journalist and founder Nicole Casperson, got to work to bring these celebrations to life.

From a monthly bouquet subscription to live plants for attendees to nurture in the future, and a postcard-making station sending regular affirmations to the honoree, every detail was thoughtfully chosen. Because CPAs like Nina Chmura, our first honoree, deserve to be celebrated for the same level of meticulous attention they bring to their work.

Nina Chmura: Honoree, CPA, Withum Partner & OASyS Powerhouse

When we began pulling together our shortlist of honorees, the Rho team looked first to the talented finance professionals in the Rho partner program. We have the privilege of seeing them work their magic with our shared clients, solving complex problems, offering long-term strategic advice, and pushing for innovation. As a result, Nina was selected based on her leadership accomplishments and the significant impact she’s made on her clients, her firm, and the broader professional community.

Nina Chmura is a visionary partner at Withum, leading innovation in outsourced accounting and through the OASyS (Outsourced Accounting Systems and Services) practice. With more than 15 years of expertise across real estate, consumer products, and nonprofits, Nina drives excellence through her leadership of the OASyS practice, earning accolades and redefining what’s possible in tech-forward, client-centered accounting solutions.

When asked what makes Nina worthy of celebration, Withum CEO Pat Walsh said, “We believe that innovation, leadership, and vision are what drive our firm and our clients forward Nina Chmura embodies all three. As the leader of our Outsourced Accounting Systems and Services (OASyS) practice, Nina identified a growing need for agile, tech-enabled financial solutions and turned her insight into a thriving service line that delivers exceptional value for our clients. Her influence is felt through the results she delivers and the teams she inspires. We’re proud to see Nina recognized as a trailblazer who’s helping shape the future of accounting and finance, and we celebrate this well-deserved honor."

So, how did we honor Nina? Custom cocktails, elegant appetizers, a donation in her honor, and a postcard writing station, of course.

Cocktails and Counting Coins with the Leaders of Fintech

Picture it. An intimate gathering of just under thirty finance luminaries, with the sparkling backdrop of Opto NYC. The Mediterranean-inspired dining experience in the Flatiron District was the perfect space to mingle, alongside appetizers from the culinary mind of Chef Alex Tubero. Colleagues, clients, family, and friends toasted with the aptly named “NinaRita” and “NinaSpritz” in celebration of the honoree.

Nina’s presence radiated with joy, surrounded by her mom, husband, and supportive colleagues and connections. Throughout the night, Nina shared stories about her journey in accounting, especially as a girl counting coins in her parents' small business.

The good vibes were also punctuated by praise from the honoree’s colleagues and peers. Many guests shared their experiences with Nina’s kindness, leadership, and professional prowess.

Nina consistently goes above and beyond, setting a high standard for all of us. Her dedication and hard work have been crucial to the success and growth of our team.  In addition to professional achievements, Nina is a true friend.  Her kindness, sense of humor, and willingness to listen have made the workplace a more enjoyable and supportive environment.

  • Laura Whitman, Partner, Withum

To the delight of guests, Rho x Fintech is Femme presented Nina with a $1,000 donation to her chosen charity, Docomomo US. A non-profit organization which, for the last 25 years, has been dedicated to the documentation and conservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the modern movement. Nina serves on the Docomomo board providing financial planning support, and it’s a passion project for her and her husband, who is an architect.

And if all that wasn't enough for a memorable evening, the night culminated in a live recording of the Humans of Fintech podcast.

Nicole Casperson Founder & CEO of Fintech Is Femme led the conversation, featuring the Withum Partner Nina Chmura, as well as Amanda Estiverne-Colas, Board Member of the National Alliance for Financial Literacy and Inclusion, and Rho’s very own Head of Partner Marketing Christine Farrier Rosemin

Did Your New Plant Make it Home?

Nina and guests capped off the evening with a NinaSpritz (or two) and Rho x Fintech is Femme goodie bag, which included a potted plant to continue to nurture this growing community of women leaders.
